"The concept of sustainability has become a widely used concept in the social science literature since the late 1980s when the Report of the World Commission on Environment and Development was published. Most of the poblucations in the field have dealt with it so far simply as a general principle worth to recommend in order to safeguard main components of the ecosystem. The number of scholarly work focusing on specific aspects of urban management, housing environments, community development and spatial planning as affecting sustainable development is rather limited. It can be safely assumed that the more numerous are the action-oriented empirical researches on different elements of socio-economic systems, the more likely will be to ensure the very sustainability of sustainable development.
